Torah Thoughts with Gordon: Walking in Truth, Covenant, and Humility

Welcome to Torah Thoughts with Gordon.

This website is being created with a simple but serious purpose: to help us deepen our walk with The Almighty, grow in our understanding of Scripture, and learn how to live out our faith with greater faithfulness, humility, and love.

For many of us who believe that Yeishua is the Mashiach, there has been a long journey of learning, unlearning, and returning. We have inherited many ideas from religious traditions, teachers, congregations, books, and sincere people who came before us. Some of those teachings have helped us. Others need to be carefully tested against the Scriptures.

That is part of what this site is about.

The goal is not to argue for the sake of argument. It is not to attack people. It is not to make ourselves appear wiser than others. The goal is to search for truth, to honor The Almighty, and to walk more faithfully in the covenant He gave to His people.

Scripture teaches that we are to study in such a way that we may stand approved before The Almighty, as workers who do not need to be ashamed. That requires effort. It requires careful reading. It requires humility. It also requires a willingness to be corrected by the Word, even when that correction challenges something we have believed for many years.

Here at Torah Thoughts with Gordon, I hope to offer studies, videos, graphics, word studies, and practical reflections that help us see the Jewish foundation of our faith more clearly. The faith of Yeishua, his emissaries, and the earliest community of believers was not separated from Torah, from Israel, from the appointed times, from the synagogue, or from the covenantal life given by The Almighty. It was deeply Jewish in thought, practice, language, and worldview.

To follow Yeishua as the Mashiach is not a call to abandon Torah. It is a call to walk in faithfulness before The Almighty. Yeishua did not teach rebellion against the commandments. He taught true obedience from the heart. He called people away from hypocrisy, man-made traditions that overturned the commandments, and empty religious performance. But he never taught that The Almighty’s instructions were no longer necessary for covenant life.

Because of that, this site will often focus on the necessity of walking according to the Torah in our daily lives. Torah is not merely a subject to debate. It is instruction for life. It teaches us how to love The Almighty, how to love our neighbor, how to order our homes, how to worship, how to pursue justice, how to show mercy, and how to live as a people set apart.

Some blog entries will be word studies, looking carefully at Hebrew or Greek terms that shape how we understand Scripture. Others will be practical, offering encouragement and ideas for living a Jewish lifestyle while continuing to confess Yeishua as the Mashiach. There may be studies on Shabbat, the festivals, prayer, modesty, food, family life, repentance, discipleship, and congregational life.

At times, I will also address errors that have been passed down through Christian and even Messianic traditions. These topics must be handled carefully. It is easy to become harsh when we discover that something we were taught may not be biblical. But truth should produce humility, not arrogance. If we have received correction from The Almighty, then we should extend patience to others who are still learning.

None of us knows everything. None of us has arrived. Every student of Scripture must remain teachable.

That means we should be willing to listen, willing to examine the evidence, willing to test our assumptions, and willing to change when the Scriptures require it. At the same time, humility does not mean pretending that truth cannot be known. The Almighty has spoken. His Word matters. Sound doctrine matters. Covenant faithfulness matters.

My hope is that Torah Thoughts with Gordon will become a place where serious study and practical obedience meet. I want this site to encourage people to open their Bibles, ask better questions, examine inherited beliefs, and take real steps toward a more faithful walk.

May everything written here be measured by the Scriptures. May it encourage love for The Almighty, love for His Torah, love for Israel, and love for the truth. May it help us honor Yeishua as the Mashiach while remaining rooted in the faith, language, and covenantal life of the Jewish people.
