An Ancient Earth and a Young Creation?
Can the universe and Earth be billions of years old while the ordered world described in Genesis is comparatively young? This study examines Genesis 1 through the Hebrew text, Jewish commentary, and modern science, exploring the possibility that Genesis 1:2 onward describes the ordering or restoration of an already-existing Earth. It considers light, the atmosphere, dry land, the heavenly bodies, fossils, Noah’s Flood, and ancient Jewish ideas about creation while emphasizing that Scripture and science need not be enemies.
